Known as “The Cleanest Little City in Texas”, Shiner is home to the oldest independent brewery in the state - Shiner Brewery a.k.a Spoetzl Brewery. Shiner is a quaint town made up of 2.4 square miles. The City of Shiner is home to the Shiner High School, St. Paul High School and St. Ludmila Elementary School. Shiner High received an A grade and was ranked in the top 11% of public schools in Texas in 2016 by the Children at Risk organization.

Kaspar Companies began its grand existence more than 115 years ago when August Kaspar made and sold his first wire basket. It was around that time when ranchers discarded their old smooth wire fences in favor of barbed wire. Shiner Brewery (K. Spoetzl Brewery)
America's oldest independent brewery, since 1909 has brewed every drop of Shiner Beer in the city of Shiner within the walls Spoetzl Brewery. Today, Shiner Brewery sends 6 million cases of Shiner Beer to states across the country. Shiner Beer was really the pioneer to putting Shiner, Texas on the map. The Shiner Gaslight Theatre is a non-profit community dinner theatre which seats 138 and provides contemporary and classic theatre. Except as noted, plays are appropriate for adults and older children. The theatre is staffed completely by volunteers.
